Did Life Arise by Accident?

Was there a creation or did life arise by accident? For decades scientists said there was no beginning – the universe was always here. That was called the “steady state universe.”

There was a beginning to the universe, just as it said in the Bible. That put the question before chemists, physicists, cosmologists and other scientists – What about life?

The answer favored by some scientists was that given enough time life would arise. Since the universe is 13.7 billion years old they believed that enough random collections and interactions of matter would create complex living organisms. Was there enough time to do that? Apparently not.

According to Dr. I. Prigogine, recipient of two Nobel Prizes in chemistry:

The probability that at ordinary temperatures a macroscopic number of molecules is assembled to give rise to the highly ordered structures and to the coordinated functions characterizing living organisms is vanishingly small. The idea of spontaneous genesis of life in its present form is therefore highly improbable, even on the scale of the billions of years during which prebiotic evolution occurred… (1)

Sir Fred Hoyle, the distinguished astronomer, writes:

No matter how large the environment one considers, life cannot have had a random beginning. Troops of monkeys thundering away at random on typewriters could not produce the works of Shakespeare – for the practical reason that the whole observable universe is not large enough to contain the necessary monkey hordes, the necessary typewriters, and certainly the waste paper baskets for the deposition of wrong attempts. The same is true for living material. (2)

There simply hasn’t been enough time; there aren’t enough wastebaskets and there aren’t enough bananas.

Something cannot come from nothing. Physics tells us that before the “big bang” there were quantum fluctuations – laws of nature guiding the creation of matter and life.

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic

Question: Is it true that Doctors of Chiropractic ran mental institutions?

Answer: Yes, chiropractic’s psychotherapeutic effects have been known since it was discovered in 1895 by Dr. DD Palmer (photo at left). The benefits of chiropractic were so pronounced that in the US there were hundreds of mental institutions and health centers (many called sanitariums) owned and run by Doctors of Chiropractic throughout the 20th century.

Both Clear View Sanitarium and Forest Park Sanitarium were in existence for over 40 years helping people using chiropractic.

Chiropractic care was recognized legally by North Dakota judge A.W. Ponath who would refuse to commit people to the state mental hospital until they first spent time at a chiropractic sanitarium. The chiropractic success rate with people with emotional/mental/alcoholism and other disorders was far higher than the medical approach of electric shock therapy and lobotomy. (At the North Dakota state mental hospital, the “cure and discharge rate” ranged from 18 27%, compared to 65% at Forest Park Chiropractic Sanitarium.) (3) Electroconvulsive therapy is still used today and there is revived interest in brain surgery in orthodox medical circles

If at all possible, chiropractic should be explored before more drastic and dangerous medical procedures are used.

Finding A Holistic/Biological Dentist
Did you know there are approximately 800 “biological dentists” in the United States? These dentists specialize in non-toxic dental diagnostics and procedures. It is recommended to use these dentists so that you DON’T end up with a mouthful of amalgam (mercury) fillings and root canals.

Both root canals and mercury fillings have been linked to serious health problems, health problems that may not surface until decades after the fillings are placed in the mouth. These serious problems include multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), various cancers, rheumatoid arthritis, depression and other neurological conditions. (4-5)

How do you find a holistic dentist? Go to the International Academy of Biological Dentistry & Medicine website at https://iabdm.org/ to find one near you. They are worth traveling to. At the very least, use them to get a second opinion.

Positive Emotions May Shrink Cancer

Earlier epidemiological studies have shown that there is a connection between a person’s mental state and cancer survival. (6)

Many of these studies show that negative emotions such as depression lessen a person’s chances of survival. However, what about positive emotions? Can they increase a person’s chances of survival?

An Israeli study explored that possibility and found that positive emotions may shrink cancer tumors by 50%. Scientists found that our anti-tumor immune response can be affected by our mood – technically referred to as the brain’s “reward system.”

The researchers explored the exact mechanisms affecting the tumor growth or shrinkage and could not find them so they came up with “indirect” (theoretical) mechanisms:

Given the central role of the reward system in positive emotions, these findings introduce a physiological mechanism whereby the patient’s psychological state can impact anti-tumor immunity and cancer progression. (7)

It is hoped that future research that looks at family dynamics, emotional health, one’s support system and overall belief system may hold the key to emotional health in the face of existential crises. For example, studies have shown that people in close communities and religious people have a greater lifespan and survival rate. (8)

It’s possible that we need our friends and family and traditions more than we ever realized.

8 Things that Happen When You Eat 2 Eggs Every Day

  1. Your neurons (brain cells) communicate better. Two eggs a day gives your body choline that is good for your brain.
  2. Your eyes and vision are helped Chicken eggs contain lutein that keeps your eyesight clear and sharp and might lower your risk of getting cataracts and macular degeneration.
  3. Your bones and teeth get stronger. Vitamin D in eggs helps your body to absorb more calcium and makes your bones and teeth stronger.
  4. Your skin, hair and liver are healthier. Eggs nourish and strengthen your hair and liver. The vitamin A, B complex and collagen in eggs help rashes, acne, wrinkles, burns and scars.
  5. You will lose weight.Having eggs for breakfast every day helps boost your energy and keeps you feeling full longer through the day.
  6. Cardiovascular disease is reduced. The eggs’ cholesterol is beneficial to your health. Eggs contain Omega 3 fatty acids, which reduce triglyceride levels, thus lowering your risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
  7. Cancer protection. Choline in eggs lowers the risk of developing cancer.
  8. Slow down aging. Wrinkles got smoother, age spots vanished and the skin was lifted when more eggs were added to the diet.

Note: There is a tremendous nutritional difference between free-range chicken eggs and commercially-farmed eggs. Don’t eat commercially-produced foods!!!

Researching Chiropractic

Chiropractic clinical case histories have been a regular feature of our patient newsletter since its inception. There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Hearing loss in a six-year-old boy. A six-year-old boy with diagnosed mild to moderate hearing loss was brought in for care. He was falling behind in class and his speech was difficult to understand. Tympanostomy (ear tube insertion) was recommended.

The child was examined, found to have vertebral subluxations and adjusted.

He had 12 chiropractic visits/adjustments. Hearing, speech and school performance improved following chiropractic care and his hearing was reclassified to normal.

Additionally, he caught up with his class by the end of the third term of school and his speech improved. (9)

ADHD in a 38-year-old. A 38-year-old male patient entered a chiropractor’s office complaining of chronic headaches and adult onset attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He was taking Adderall®, OxyContin® and Lortab®.

On examination, vertebral subluxations with correlated neurological imbalance were found.

After two months of chiropractic adjustments he reported a resolution of all his ADHD symptoms; he was able to focus and to exercise.

He was also able to stop taking medications for ADHD. (10)

Hand numbness and neck pain in a 46-year-old woman. A woman with hand numbness and neck pain began chiropractic care. Spinal analysis revealed that she had upper cervical (neck) subluxations, concurrent nervous system imbalance, a loss of the normal cervical curve and spinal degeneration.

Over a 4-month period she received 8 chiropractic adjustments.

Her neck pain decreased from 4/10 to 0/10 and her hand numbness completely resolved after two months of care. (11)

Discover why you probably didn’t keep your resolutions after New Year’s. Discover that chiropractic is needed if you are living, growing and aging (who isn’t?). Is cholesterol really your friend? Winston Churchill, one of the greatest men of the 20th century, has a few things to tell us. And more research shows how people with all kinds of different conditions need chiropractic care. See it all here. Oh, and the humor section is always fun too!

Spring Resolutions are Better

People like to make a big to-do about “New Year’s Resolutions,” but springtime is really the best time to make them. After all there’s no difference between December 31st and January 1st. The weather is still cold, rainy and snowy in many places; it’s still dark, the ground is frozen and bare. Life is hunkering down to survive the elements and you may even have a hangover from the celebrations the night before. How inspiring is that? Is it any wonder we don’t follow through with all our grand plans and ideals?

But we get another chance. Spring is the true time for renewal and growth. The earth is thawing, transforming and awakening; sunlight is much stronger and lasts longer and new life is appearing. So here we offer you a better recommendation: make your resolutions now. What better time than the season of renewal to get more sun (it’s easier), eat better, go for walks, exercise, call your mother and father more, play with the young ones more, write, make music, dance more and take better care of yourself? With that in mind don’t forget a resolution to come in for regular chiropractic checkups and adjustments.

There’s another reason why springtime is the ideal time to commit to the resolutions you probably forgot about on January 1st. Who can think about exercising when you have a hangover?

How do Adults Benefit from Chiropractic Care?

Let us count the ways …

Physical, emotional and chemical stresses accumulate as we age. Every system in our body needs energy, and stress interferes with the flow of energy. Our ability to heal, to grow and to repair is diminished. We age faster than we should and dis-ease (body malfunction) eventually causes disease.

For improved function of your immune, digestive, eliminative, cardiovascular and other systems, your body needs unobstructed communications. You need to reverse the damage stress causes.

That’s why, for a healthier life, chiropractic care for everyone is absolutely essential. Chiropractic helps people live free of obstructions caused by subluxations – structural distortions that interfere with internal nerve communication and energy flow. Study after study shows how important a subluxation-free body is to your health. And the millions of chiropractic patients over a hundred years prove it works. No matter what the named disease or condition a person may be diagnosed with, a subluxation-free body is essential. (1-5).

For that reason, you and your loved ones need periodic chiropractic checkups and adjustments. Everyone, from newborn babies to the elderly, needs a body free from the severe stress caused by subluxations.

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic

Question: If I’m feeling fine do I really need chiropractic care?

Answer: More than ever. Why?

By the time a person has symptoms they may have been in a weakened, dis-ease state for a long time. Don’t wait until you have serious symptoms; chiropractic can locate hidden blockages or interferences to proper function (subluxations) now before they become more obvious and painful or disturbing later.

It’s sometimes helpful to think of chiropractic as you would dental care. For example, you may have dental cavities, an infected root canal or other dental infections and yet you may feel no pain. All the while, there is a problem silently festering, sometimes for years, that may be affecting your entire body and can ultimately ruin your health. You get your teeth checked periodically – what about your spine and structural system? That’s where chiropractic comes in.

You can also think of chiropractic care as similar to good nutrition – always important to maintain good health and absolutely necessary if a person has a health problem.

Want to make sure you are healthy? Visit your chiropractor for a checkup on a regular basis.

So even though you might be feeling fine you may be carrying in your body serious stress causing dis-ease preventing you from functioning at your potential.

So, do you really need to come in for chiropractic care if you aren’t in pain or suffering from a disease? Absolutely. Don’t wait until there is long-standing stress and possible damage. Make an appointment today.

Nourishing Traditions

We have heard about “dangerous” cholesterol for years, but cholesterol is essential for proper brain function, energetic muscles, a strong immune system and even a long, healthy life. Cholesterol is so important it is made by nearly every cell in your body. In fact, recent studies reveal that the higher the cholesterol level in the elderly, the longer they live! (6-7) High cholesterol has repeatedly been shown not to cause heart attacks or cardiovascular disease.

If a person’s cholesterol is higher than average that is a sign that there is inflammation somewhere in the body. Inflammation is associated with cancer, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes – in fact all the “diseases of civilization.”

Cholesterol is anti-inflammatory; it fights inflammation. Cholesterol molecules are like firemen in your body – they help put out the fire of inflammation. If you see high cholesterol you should put out the fire (the inflammation), not shoot the firemen.

What can cause elevated cholesterol? Stress – physical, chemical and emotional stress – such as dental infections, subluxations, toxicity and an unhealthy diet full of bad oils, poor quality fats, refined foods, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, etc.

Because your body needs cholesterol to work properly, if you eat a “low-cholesterol” diet your cells will simply make more cholesterol to keep your amount at a healthy level.

That is why cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins) such as Lipitorâ„¢ and Crestorâ„¢, that interfere with cholesterol synthesis, cause muscle pain, cancer, dementia, suicide, depression and paradoxically, sudden heart death! In addition, cholesterol-lowering drugs don’t get to the cause of inflammation; they are suppressing a beneficial symptom.

Do your heart, brain, nerves and muscles a favor and enjoy cholesterol. Include lots of healthy fats in your diet such as butter; coconut, olive and avocado oils; lard, tallow (beef fat), chicken fat and duck fat to fight inflammation. Just as importantly avoid unhealthy fats such as vegetable oils like canola, soy, corn, cottonseed, safflower, peanut and other unnatural oils. Especially stay away from trans-fats and hydrogenated fats such as Criscoâ„¢ and margarine and fake butter “spreads.” They are a “heart attack in a can.”

Great information about cholesterol, good fats and bad fats can be found at www.westonaprice.org. For example, type “cholesterol” in the search engine and see what comes up.

Crohn’s disease and chiropractic. A 60-year-old man diagnosed with Crohn’s disease was suffering from abdominal pain and cramping, stiffness all over his body, diarrhea and a generalized feeling of sickness and malaise. His symptoms had begun six years prior and developed gradually.

When he began chiropractic care, he was taking multiple medications for his condition that he felt were not helping. He was unable to go more than one hour without experiencing symptoms.

Chiropractic examination revealed subluxations at multiple levels as well as a poor diet. Subluxation-centered chiropractic care was initiated and his diet was addressed to restore proper intestinal gut flora. The patient reported immediate relief following his first and second adjustments with complete resolution of Crohn’s disease over the course of care. He was able to stop taking all medications after nine months of care. The patient’s complete remission was confirmed by his endocrinologist. (8)

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). A 21-year-old woman began chiropractic care complaining of low back pain and of radiating numbness into her legs and feet. X-ray and other analysis revealed a left-sided scoliosis (her spine was twisted to the left) plus an exaggerated mid-back (thoracic) and lower back (lumbar) curve.

She was analyzed for subluxations. Her chiropractic care addressed and corrected her subluxations and over a period of five months of care (a total of 62 visits) her left-leaning scoliosis reduced from 20° to 12.5°. Additionally, her mid-back curve reduced from 63° to 40° and her low-back curve reduced from 70° to 65°.

By seven months of care she experienced improvement of over 50% in well-being and a 50% reduction of her physical complaints. (9)

Fainting. A 57-year-old woman complaining of sudden blackouts (fainting) was diagnosed with “vasovagal syncope” (VVS), a sudden, brief, temporary loss of consciousness (LOC).

She also had constant neck pain primarily on the right and inability to turn her head fully to the right.

She had tried prescribed medication and her MD recommended surgically implanting a pacemaker to regulate her nerve function. She refused.

Chiropractic examination and X-ray analysis revealed vertebral subluxations of the upper neck or cervical vertebrae (C1 and C2).

Her VVS completely disappeared and never returned after her first visit. By her fourth visit her neck pain and limited range of motion greatly diminished. (10)

Did You Know?

Raw, whole (non-pasteurized, non-homogenized) milk is one of nature’s perfect foods. It is safe, nutritious, full of living enzymes and heathy bacteria for your gut health and other living nutrients that are not found in pasteurized milk.

The myth that raw milk is unsafe was exploded when government statistics revealed that food-borne illness was nearly unheard of from raw milk and that other foods were thirty-five thousand times (35,000!) more likely to cause illness than raw milk. (11)

Indeed, raw milk has traditionally been used to heal chronic illness because of its life-giving nutrition. Avoid low-fat, reduced fat and skim milk – full fat milk is much healthier and nutritious – and tastes much better too!

Also, did you know that baby cows (calves) die when they are fed pasteurized milk? Why would it be considered nutritious for humans?

Humor

Mark Twain tells of a doctor at the bedside of a very sick, elderly lady. The doctor told her that she must stop drinking, cussing and smoking. The lady said that she’d never done any of those things in her entire life. The doctor responded, “Well, that’s your problem, then. You’ve neglected your habits.”

Learn about the magic of retracing, be careful about dehydration in winter (you’ll be healthier) and discover who needs chiropractic care. Plus, learn about this year’s flu, cancer, better eating and how a Great Dane discovered chiropractic.

It’s Coming

Yes, it’s winter; night comes too early and the sun rises too late. It’s dark a lot and it’s cold but can you tell life is awakening? The sun’s intensity increases daily and somewhere in the ground roots are stirring. We are never far from growth, healing and inspiration. As Albert Camus said:

In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back.

The Magic of Retracing

Retracing is a fascinating healing phenomenon that is found in all natural healing arts. It is seen as a person develops increased balance, harmony and strength. It is especially seen in chiropractic. What exactly is it?

Retracing is when old physical injuries, emotional pain, stress and toxins leave the body as it heals. It is a wonderful thing, even though it may feel uncomfortable, because in its wake it leaves a healthier, stronger, cleaner and happier person. The phrase “better out than in” is a good description of retracing.

Sometimes retracing is dramatic – people laugh or cry, feel old aches and pains, relive an accident or trauma or detoxify with diarrhea, vomiting, fever and flu-like symptoms. That is rare, but when it occurs it is often seen in a person with a lot of vitality who has the strength to handle it.

Sometimes retracing is subtle. A person who may feel “no different” after an adjustment and then have powerful dreams that evening is releasing deep emotional stress. Or conversely, they may report better sleep than they had in years. Retracing is a very individual affair.

But don’t let it scare you. Sometimes patients have contemplated leaving care because of it. Don’t! It’s good for you and it means you are on the right path to healing. If you experience any uncomfortable symptoms after care please bring it to our attention. Retracing is almost always temporary and you’ll feel much better after it passes.

Dehydration

Why discuss dehydration in the dead of winter? We sweat more in summer but winter usually causes more dehydration. Why? Unless you live and work with hot water radiators for heat you are subjected to hot air and it’s dehydrating. Our cars also use dry hot air.

Some of the symptoms of dehydration include dry mouth, headache, dark urine, hunger, dry skin, high blood pressure, aches and pains.

People are often surprised that hunger is a sign of dehydration, but you’ll find your hunger pangs will often disappear when you’ve had a glass or two of water. Keep yourself from dehydration this winter. (1)

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic

Question: Who needs chiropractic care?

Answer: Everybody!

Chiropractic is like good nutrition: very important if you aren’t sick or suffering but vitally important if you have any health challenges.

Don’t wait until you have serious symptoms; chiropractic can locate hidden problems (subluxations) now before they become obvious. That is especially important for babies, children, the elderly and everyone in between.

Is This Year’s Flu Really So Bad?

The headlines are certainly scary. For example: “Some Medical Experts Are Predicting the Worst Flu Season in History,” says the CNBC headline. (Talk about “fake news.”)

Time’s hysterical headline is Here’s Why the Flu Is Especially Bad This Year. The Washington Post proclaims: Five Things You Should Know About This Year’s Very Bad Flu.

But Center for Disease Control (CDC) officials say the epidemic has probably peaked. (2). If true, we’ve had one of the mildest flu seasons in many years. Pediatric deaths reported by the CDC to date are lower than prior years. But a headline telling people that doesn’t sell a useless, dangerous flu vaccine.

Cancer is Not a Genetic Disorder

Human genome studies have revealed that we have approximately 250 oncogenes (genes that promote tumor growth) and 700 tumor suppressor genes (genes that get rid of tumors). Cancer in this view represents approximately one million different genes with millions of “mutations.” There is no unique “cancer gene” and cancer appears to be a disease of the cell and its metabolism, not the nuclear (genetic) materials. (3)

Nourishing Traditions

The ketogenic diet is a powerful, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer diet. The more good quality fats and oils you eat (butter, cream, tallow, lard, avocado, coconut, etc.) and the less carbohydrates (sugars) you eat, the healthier, thinner and more energetic you will be. The high fat, moderate protein, very low carb diet is referred to as the ketogenic diet because when your body digests fats (from food and from your own waistline) you produce ketones that are a better source of energy than carbohydrates anyway.

Just be careful to avoid unhealthy fats and oils such as margarine, Crisco®, canola, corn oil, soy oil and other commercial oils. Go to www.westonaprice.org for more information. Consider coconut when using oils.

Here are some coconut oil fat facts that’ll keep you healthy and happy:

  • Saturated fats, and most particularly coconut oil, are an important part of the human diet. Recent research suggests coconut oil may help control Crohn’s disease by improving your gut microbiome.
  • Studies show coconut oil also supports healthy thyroid function, promotes heart health and healthy brain function, boosts immune function and energy, aids weight loss and much more.
  • Coconut oil is an excellent choice for cooking, as it can resist heat-induced damage. Processed vegetable oils produce oxidized cholesterol and toxic cyclic aldehydes and acrylamide when heated.
  • “Bulletproof coffee” is a brain-boosting high-performance beverage you can easily make by adding MCT oil or coconut oil and grass-fed, unsalted butter or ghee to black, organic coffee or a coffee substitute such as Dandy Blendâ„¢.
  • Coconut oil is a natural, inexpensive and safe replacement for moisturizers, hair masks, shaving lotion, cleansers, makeup removers, body scrub, toothpaste and much more.

Ear infection in a 10-year-old. This boy suffered from fluid-filled ears, allergies and sleep disturbances. He was prescribed Flonase® and Zyrtec® for his allergies. His parents brought him in for chiropractic care.

A chiropractic examination found a loss of normal neck curve, sacrum misalignment, and subluxations in the upper back (3rd thoracic or T3), lower (lumbar) spine and the base of the skull.

The child was adjusted at T3. His ear started draining immediately and continued draining for the next two days. After two weeks of care X-rays were retaken and showed restoration of normal neck curve and alignment of the sacrum and pelvis. The child’s otitis media resolved. (4)

Resolution of Raynaud’s Syndrome. A 29-year-old woman had been suffering from cold, stiff hands with discoloration for the previous 10 years as well as intermittent spinal stiffness.

She had subluxation-based chiropractic care for 11 weeks that added up to 15 visits. Both pre and post x-ray studies were utilized to show correction of abnormal curvature of the spine and pelvis.

After 15 visits, she had significant improved neurological function and symptom relief of Raynaud’s Syndrome. (5)

Tremors in a Great Dane. Chiropractic has been used since its inception for pets and farm animals (and even zoo animals). In this report, a three-week-old male Great Dane suffering from tremors received chiropractic care.

The dog’s subluxations were corrected using an adjusting instrument and Immediately after the correction the Great Dane fell asleep. Three days later there was a marked improvement and two-weeks later the tremors completely resolved. (6)

Stenosis and hand pain in a 74-year old woman. A 74-year-old woman had been diagnosed with moderate neck (cervical) stenosis that was compressing the nerves going to her upper extremities. Her symptoms included inability to turn her head fully, and numbness, tingling and nerve pain down her left arm and into her 3rd, 4th and 5th fingers. She had been suffering from these symptoms for one year.

She began chiropractic care and subluxations were discovered at multiple spinal levels. She had 15 adjustments over an eight-week period. She reported less numbness and tingling in her left arm and an increased cervical range of motion (ability to turn her head). (7)

Did You Know …?

… you, a mouse, an elephant and a giraffe all have the same number of spinal bones or vertebrae in the neck (cervical spine)? How many? Seven!

… drugs make people nauseous or hungry because the same chemicals in your brain are found in your intestines? Your intestines have as many nerves in them as does your spinal cord.

… chiropractors have over 100 different ways of adjusting the spine? They are referred to as techniques.

Your Inner Healer – Let It Out

I desired to know why one person was ailing and his associate, eating at the same table, working in the same shop…was not. Why? What difference was there in the two persons that caused one to have [disease] while his partner…escaped? Why? (1) D.D. Palmer, Founder of Chiropractic

Are you healthy if you feel good? If you said, “Yes,” ask yourself if you ever felt good one day and then came down with a cold, the flu or some other condition the next.

What about people who “feel good” one moment and have a heart attack or stroke the next? It’s obvious that health is much more than how you feel. So, what is health? Health is your ability to adapt to or handle physical, chemical and emotional stress without losing your physical, chemical and emotional balance.

Your Innate Intelligence

What does adaptation look like inside you? It’s thousands of different chemicals being balanced every second, millions of cells dying every second, millions being born every second and billions of nerves firing messages to every part of your body every second. Your lunch is somehow turned into eye, muscle, heart, bone, skin and blood; damaged tissues are being repaired; blood vessel linings are being smoothed; germs and tumors are being destroyed; and all the things that your cells produce are being monitored and balanced while you read a book, sleep or run a race.

What Keeps Track of All This Activity?

A wondrous intelligence organizes this activity. As Lewis Thomas, MD writes in The Medusa and the Snail, “[There is] a kind of super intelligence that exists in each of us, infinitely smarter and possessed of technical knowledge far beyond our present understanding.’ (2) Chiropractic refers to this as our innate (inborn) intelligence. With it running things, your body is a complicated, living, adapting, growing being – without it, you would be no more than a pile of chemicals worth a few dollars.

How Does Your Inner Wisdom Communicate with Your body?

There is a part of your body that is especially intimate with your inner wisdom: your nervous system, composed of your brain, spinal cord and the billions of nerves that emerge from them. Your nervous system touches every nook and cranny of your body, and your innate intelligence uses this vast communications system to organize your billions of parts into a healthy, adapting, living being. (3) True health or adaptation can only emerge when your innate intelligence can communicate to your body parts without interference or “static.”

A complete loss of communication happens in death; a partial loss results in a general deterioration of health – or “dis-ease” – you are less alive and less able to cope with life’s stresses. Eventually a dis-eased state turns into disease conditions. (4)

Subluxations are a common, often painless condition that stresses your spine and nervous system and causes “static,” dis-ease or body malfunction. Doctors of Chiropractic spend years of training learning how to locate and correct your subluxations, freeing your body from dis-ease and helping you better reconnect to your inner healer. Make sure you are free of subluxations – visit your chiropractor.

CDC Admits There is No Science Behind the Flu Vaccine

Through all of her years of medical training Cammy Benton, MD said the only thing she was taught with regard to vaccines were that they were “safe and effective” and to discard the vaccine inserts, as they were all “lawyer jargon.”

But she began to ask questions about the science behind the flu shot, and even asked a senior CDC official about it at an event. She found no credible studies backing up the science behind the flu shot.

When she called the CDC about it, the CDC admitted there was no science confirming the effectiveness of the flu vaccine, it was simply “all we have” to combat the flu season.

Dr. Benton then asked why hospitals were not requiring ALL medical personnel to wear face masks during the flu season, since the CDC was admitting the flu vaccine was not effective.

The person at the CDC hung up and the next Monday Dr. Benton was presented with a four-month severance pay. She states that this was the best “vacation” she could have received at that time, because she spent every day studying about vaccines.

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic

Question: What causes your subluxations?

Answer: Subluxations are caused by a stress that overwhelms your body such as:

  • A difficult birth?or delivery
  • An auto accident
  • A fall no matter how long ago (even as a toddler)
  • Bad posture
  • Eating junk food (chemical stress)
  • Using the same body position over and over at work or play (repetitive strain injury)
  • Emotional tension
  • Pushing yourself too hard
  • Being a couch potato
  • Dental work
  • Drug use, medications
  • Surgery
  • Working in an awkward position
  • A mild jar when you’re unprepared
  • An emotional shock when your energy is low
  • Long car rides

Traditional Eating – What We Stopped Doing

Our ancestors did it for hundreds and thousands of generations. It’s prized in all cultures. What is it? Eating fats.

Here’s an example: when Eskimos (Inuit) catch game such as seal, caribou, bear, etc. they prize the liver and internal organs and give the lean muscle meat to their dogs.

This diet is found all over the world. Even today many cultures still prize the health qualities of organ meats, i.e. chopped liver, sweetbreads (thymus or pancreas), Scottish haggis (heart, liver, lung pudding), sausage from many cultures, British bangers, Irish shepherds’ pie – there are many similar dishes all over the world.

It seems to be the opposite with modern society. And yet lean meats were always considered less important and less nutritious than the fatty organ meats. It’s true, organ meats have far more nutrients.

Hypothyroidism and irritable bowel, lower back. A 34-year-old woman visited a chiropractic office complaining of low back, hip and upper back pain. She also reported that she was medically diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and secondary hypothyroidism.

Chiropractic analysis revealed subluxations that were causing nervous system imbalance (dysautonomia). Chiropractic adjustments corrected her subluxations. After two months of care, the patient’s thyroid function test showed improvement and she was able to stop her medication. Additionally, she reported improvement in her irritable bowel syndrome, low back, hip and upper back pain. (5)

Placental insufficiency and fetal growth restriction. A 29-year-old female, who was 32 weeks pregnant, presented for chiropractic care because she was concerned about a diagnosis of placental insufficiency and delayed fetal growth that was given after an ultrasound examination. There is no medical treatment for this condition.

However, chiropractic analysis revealed subluxations in her cervical spine (neck), sacrum and pelvis. She had eight visits over a three-week period to correct her subluxations. On the day after her first visit she had another ultrasound that revealed normal placental blood flow and normal fetal growth rate. She was able to carry the baby to 37 weeks permitting the fetus 3 to 4 more weeks of growth. (6)

Sleep bruxism in a 9-year-old. A 9-year-old boy with a 4-year history of sleep bruxism was presented for chiropractic care. He was found to have vertebral subluxations throughout his spine.

Chiropractic care to correct subluxations led to a reported reduction in sleep bruxism and an objective improvement in posture as well. (7)

Heart rate variability and chiropractic. The timing between heart beats should vary beat-to-beat. That is called heart rate variability (HRV). The more HRV, the greater a person’s health. Low HRV has been linked to physical and emotional dis-ease or body malfunction.

Analysis of the beat-to-beat intervals (heart rate variability) has been used to evaluate the nervous system balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions. Analysis of beat-to- beat variability is a simple, non-invasive technique to evaluate autonomic dysfunction and may be a tool to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations. A search of the relevant literature found that some controlled studies suggest that very thing: chiropractic care may improve heart rate variability in a positive way – meaning that nervous system function improves.

The author writes, “Vertebral subluxations may result in altered autonomic nervous system activity. Heart rate variability is a reliable and valid tool that may be used to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations.” (8)
